DON'T FUCK IT UP FRANK
EXCERPT FROM CHAPTER 4
"EG -FARTS"

At the Dingo's Rest Hotel, Two Beers Thompson makes an announcement that gives the old Woop Woop Wombats a very dangerous new idea.
Parchment

"Right, you lot, a bit of shush please," as Two Beers strode into the public bar carrying a bunch of papers under his arm.

"Okay, guys, settle down. One Nut, can you get me a pint please mate? Thanks." he said without drawing a breath.

The crowd instantly fell dead quiet.

"Okay, straight to it boys. I know you're wondering why I've got youse all here today. It's great to see you've made the effort to come out. I won't keep you too long. I know you'd rather drink than listen to me." Two Beers paused as an icy cold pint was delivered to him. He raised his glass skywards, acknowledging his teammates and shouting, "Cheers." to which all present responded likewise before taking a long, extended drink.

"Okay." he continued, the entire team's eyes transfixed on Two Beers. "We've been given an opportunity to once again experience what we all felt 25 years ago when we held that," as he pointed to the massive glass cabinet behind the bar. "1993 Championship Trophy high above our heads." He pulled out a bunch of papers from under his arm and had a few of the boys standing nearby distribute a copy to everyone. The paper read:

"Now I know none of us are as young as we used to be. You know the old saying: the older I get, the better I was. But I'm just putting it out there. Who wants to have a crack at a new challenge?" he asked with passion, befitting a Captain and Club legend. An awkward and eerie silence fell over the room as whispered conversations erupted silently amongst small groups of players. A loud voice broke the stillness from right at the back near the bar.

 "I'm in!" shouted One Nut.

 "Me too!" Lofty joined in.

"I'm in!" Frank echoed, and one by one, the entire playing group joined in, shouting their commitment to the team getting back together for another crack at immortality.

What makes it more than just a comedy though is the warmth underneath all of it.
These are flawed ridiculous and loveable people living ordinary lives in an
extraordinary place and the author clearly has a
deep affection for that world.
